Saucony was originally founded as a factory in 1898 on the high banks of the Saucony Creek in the US. Saucony's running shoes were selected in the top 10 by Runner's World magazine in 1979. This let the brand bloom over the next few years. In 2005, the Stride Rite Corporation (also maker of Sperry Top-Sider and other footwear brands) acquired Saucony. Since then, the brand has revived some of the timeless running sneakers classics, such as the Grid 8000 and the Shadow 6000.
